Seeds of Hope Amulet Bag
Evidence of amulet bags, medicine pouches and other sacred vessels are scattered throughout several ancient cultures. In Africa, Gris-Gris bags containing amulets and talismans imbued with voodoo magic were worn as protection from evil or to bring good luck. Egyptians superstitiously carried scrolls inscribed with magiciansâ spells and enclosed in metal capsules to bring good fortune for themselves or to curse someone who had wronged them. Beaded Native American amulet bags and soft leather medicine pouches are probably the most commonly recognized by our modern culture and are still used today.
Willowsong amulet bags are intended to carry your talismans, mementoes and sacred objects and are named for the inspiration behind the design of each bag. Seeds of Hope amulet bag draws inspiration from a miraculous act of Mother Nature. Mostly unseen and with near perfect timing, she scatters her myriad of seeds among leaf & humus on the forest floor, sets them adrift on wind & water or employs our furred and feathered friends to carry and disperse. Seeds are the promise and beginning of all life, metaphorically representing growth, renewal and rebirth⦠but simply, and always, a capsule of hope.
**Each vessel is handmade from wool roving (the loosely combed & dyed or natural fibers of sheepâs wool) through the art of wet felting. Although the colors are depicted as closely as possible to the actual item, please be aware that colors may appear differently on your computer screen**
