Fire Birch Leaf Copper Earrings #2
Grey Birch, White Birch, Old Field Birch, Fire Birch⦠although all of these names refer to the same tree, Fire Birch is perhaps the most intriguing and appropriate to describe this unassuming, yet selflessly nurturing tree.
With a life-span of only thirty to fifty years, and a smallish stature of twenty to thirty feet in height, the Fire Birch spends its short life in service to others. This scrappy little work-horse grows quickly in less than optimal circumstances: in rocky & sandy woodlands, old fields and abandoned roads and, most notably, it is the first to repopulate blackened forest floors after the devastation of fire.
As Fire Birch spreads across the charred landscape it grows swiftly, providing protection for other varieties of seeds to take hold. Under the nurturing shade of the birch, new plants and trees begin to burst forth and bring new life back to the forest. Eventually, the more dominant species begin to over-shadow and crowd out the Fire Birch. But long before its demise, the feather-light seeds of the birch have spread far and wide on the wings of the windâ¦and the cycle begins again.
It is no wonder that this beneficial little tree is honored as a symbol of New Beginnings and a Cleansing of the Past. The fiery spirit of this birch tree is immortalized in the copper Fire Birch Leaf earrings and await their service as your personal talisman â¦or present them as a gift to that person in your life who reflects their nurturing and self-sacrificing nature.
